In Stock? Yes. Price: $18.00

This Puer toucha tea has a fine, refined taste. Mild, earthy, and "shou" (ripened/aged) as are most puers commonly drunk, it is a good quality puer. Toucha refers to the (small in this case) half-dome shape of the pressed tea cake. Infused, the taste is smooth, not overpowering in taste. The color of the tea broth is dark red-black. The smell is mild, earthy. This is a good tea to start with for those newly breaking into the world of puer (either from coffee or from other teas).

Puer tea originates in Yunnan, China. It is one of the only teas that can be aged, as opposed to drunk immediately after processing. It has been said that puer tea can be traced as far back to the Han Dynasty in China, (3rd century CE). Puer tea comes in a variety of shapes and sizes. The melon shape was popular when presenting Puer as a tribute tea to Qing Dynasty emperors.

Brewed color: Dark, reddish-black. Flavor: Mild, earthy. Aftertaste: little to none. Preparation: For best results, use spring or mineral water that has come to a full boil. (Provides 4-5 infusions.)

Classification: Puer tea. Puer shape: small toucha (half-dome), pressed. Package Size: 75 grams (2.65 ounces). Packaging: "Brick Red" series of tin, vacuum packed tea. Grade: Medium.
