Winter-Spring Alishan Hi-Mountain Oolong (Premium)

In Stock? Yes. Price: $49.50

This Winter-Spring Alishan High-Mountain Oolong, premium-grade tea is exquisite. The color is light golden, a glistening buttery color when infused. The taste is between a Lishan and your traditional, high quality Formosa oolong: rich, delicious, with a hint of licorice and butter. It's the result of the tea varietal, the high-altitude and conditions where grown, and the processing. Taste, as always, is hard to nail down in words, but this tea is easy to drink, and quick to appreciate critically. It's one of our all-time favorites.

This tea was originally given in small quantity as a gift, during Chinese New Years, to one of the owners last year. Only after they had drunk it all (too quickly!) did they realize what they were missing. Thus began a 3 month quest to track down the farmer in Taiwan and to secure some of it for our customers (and for ourselves).

Brewed color: Golden, glistening buttery yellow. Flavor: Rich, licorice almost, equisite. Aftertaste: Sweet, lingering. Preparation: For best results, use spring or mineral water that has just come to a boil.

Origin: Alishan, Taiwan. Classification: High-mountain Oolong. Grade: Premium. Package size: 150 grams (5.3 ounces)
